Until recently, I was happily married although not until I was 60 and we decided it would be unfair for a child to have a father that elderly owing to the cruelty of other children. We shared a very happy lifestyle, both at home and traveling. Several years later, my wife, through a senior Thai monk, told me she wished to become a Buddhist monk. I wasnrsquo;t shocked as she had become more involved in her religion.

My father having refused to allow me to follow my chosen employment and saying I could no longer live at home if I did, caused me great disappointment and changed my feelings and attitude toward him. Therefore, I agreed and joined a large number of others in attending her ordination in Sri Lanka. She had purchased land near our home and had a Meditation Center built where there are a number of permanent resident monks plus others that stay for shorter periods before returning to their home province. I visit most days and am made welcome.
