Discovering True Love in Later Life: A Journey of Acceptance and Joy

I'm not there yet. I hope I've found it now, but I'm waiting for my current relationship to end to find out. Over the past month and a half, I've been trying to 'cross over,' but alas, I couldn't make it. So here I am, back on Quora to share my thoughts and experiences once again. Welcome back to my sacred duties, dear followers! Flotboozle didn't miss a beat!

A Personal Journey of Love and Loss

At 69, I found my true love over 50 years ago. Sadly, we lost her after 45 years together. After a time apart, I've been fortunate enough to find her once more. Many of you already know this story, as I've shared it on various platforms over the years, such as Is it true that love conquers all? Why or why not?, If you could erase the memory of your first love, would you?, and Do you believe in love at first sight? Why or why not?.

Extra Life and Unshakable Bond

We've been inseparable ever since. Despite my COPD, which has progressively worsened over the years, she gave me a new lease on life. By all rights, I should have cashed in over two years ago due to my health condition, but she gave me more than the natural span of life. In addition to COPD, I face the challenges of liver fibrosis, diabetes, poor mobility, hearing loss, loss of smell, and macular degeneration.

A Real Story and a Bit of Humor

My mind tends to wander, and I often talk about other people's situations. Take the story of a man who went to see his psychiatrist, feeling suicidal. The doctor's response, "Pay in advance," is a humorous and relatable prospect. If given a choice between being healthy again without Lori or remaining unhealthy but with Lori, there is no dilemma for me. Health is crucial for the quality of life, but loving Lori trumps all.

From Condo to Success

Our journey has taken us from a condo to a more stable and successful life. We lived together for a few years, approximately a 20-minute drive from my son's mobile home in Federal Way. Initially, we relied on Social Security payments, and Lori worked in a bank. However, due to the need to care for her 85-year-old mother, who lived two hours away, Lori lost her job.

Turning Point and Future Plans

After a few months, Lori secured a great job, making substantial income and working from home. She was a marvel, balancing career aspirations and family responsibilities. Last year, she studied and obtained her Real Estate license, preparing to sell real estate and phase out working for someone else. My part of the equation involves cleaning hundreds of quartz crystals I've accumulated over the years. Although I enjoy digging for them, the cleaning process is less enjoyable. Lori displays these crystals, feeding off the energy I imbue them with, and I believe this might be her secret.

Conclusion and Gratitude

We will continue to spend every moment deeply in love, and I will die in love, unaware of the blessings we share. My mind often wanders, and I hope my response doesn't cause too much trouble. Lori will sort it out, as she always does.

Thank you for allowing me to share my story. From the depths of my heart, here is Hootflutter, the Hairless Hindu Halfling.
