Start by applying an ice pack or a cold compress to your finger. Place the ice pack on your hand or finger for 15 minutes, then remove it for 15 minutes. Repeat this cycle. Keeping your hand above your heart or over your head during the off-time can help drain some of the fluid from the injured area. Take Ibuprofen for pain relief.

Massage to Relieve Pressure

Massage can be very effective in reducing swelling and stiffness. Start by gently gripping your damaged finger with your non-damaged hand as if you were holding a pencil. Use both fingers to massage the injured finger, pressing firmly but not too hard. Move your fingers back and forth, clamping the damaged finger and massaging it deeply. This will help release the pressure and push out dead tissue, blood, and other substances, allowing for the flow of new blood and nutrients to kick in.

If you follow this method diligently, your finger should return to its normal condition within a couple of days.
